Issue Position: Energy & Environment

My family consists of generations of hunters and farmers who appreciate the value of our environment and good conservation programs. Environmental degradation harms some of the things that our slice of Pennsylvania holds dearest.

Environmental stewardship is a biblical mandate. Consider Numbers 35:33-34, which reads, "Do not pollute the land where you are…Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell…" Our district's farmers, hunters, hikers, campers, and all those in between know something that the rest of the world misses: the Juniata Valley is one of the most beautiful, scenic regions in PA. I would support incremental nudges to keep it that way, such as cost-effective tax credits for renewable energy programs and cracking down on polluters.

Too often, regulators will go too heavy-handed in their approach to environmental protection, imperiling the lands we hold dear. As mentioned on my "Agriculture" page, I am opposed to WOTUS and other regulations keeping our district's small businesses, agribusinesses, and entrepreneurs from thriving. I do, however, support incremental legislation to help keep the Juniata River and other parts of the Chesapeake Watershed clean.
